How Does it Work?

Lesson Day

Your chef will arrive at your house with their knives, recipes, and the ingredients* needed to cook your meal.

Game Plan

You'll start the lesson by going over the game plan with the chef, reviewing the recipes, and talking about the ingredients or techniques.

Your chef will demonstrate each technique and you will get hands on experience preparing your meal together.

Your chef is there to answer any questions you have about cooking along the way.  Ask them about their favorite restaurants or foods!

The BEST part, you eat all the fruits of your labor.  Feel free to invite your chef to dine with you!

Clean up

Our chefs will clean the dishes, too!

Meet Our Chefs

Chef Justin

Chef Justin first learned to cook in his family’s restaurant on the New Jersey shore. After attending culinary school, he entered the US Navy. The opportunity to travel extensively while in the military helped shape Justin’s passion for different cuisines. On board his assigned submarine, he was the self proclaimed ‘best chef under the surface of the ocean.’ Upon returning to dry land, Justin moved to Philadelphia where he has had the privilege of working for some of the city’s finest restauranteurs. He is now a catering sous chef at the Comcast Center, center city. His experience in casino, restaurant, catering, and underwater kitchens provides Justin a unique knowledge of food preparations and traditions and he hopes to bring the ‘joy of life’ to your kitchen soon.

My girlfriend and I have not had much experience cooking and preparing food. As a gift, we booked a lesson with Chef Ann and we had an amazing experience! Chef Ann is extremely knowledgeable, skilled, humble, and patient when it comes to giving lessons. We made a Rosemary Roasted Chicken with sides of potato salad, Cobb salad, and finished off with baking Lava Cakes. The whole lesson took around 3 hours. Chef Ann provided us with ideas of what to make prior to booking the lesson and provided a detailed grocery list for the food we needed. We had a great time and would 10/10 love to book again. A must do for all skill levels! Thanks again and hope to see you again soon, Ann!

WOW. It's been a minute since I've reviewed something on Yelp, but I HAD TO REVIEW Philly Cooking Lessons.  I worked with Chef Justin and the rest of the team including Chef Ann, and it was AMAZING!!!  I was looking for something for a friend's birthday, something fun, something creative, something exciting.  When I learned about Philly Cooking Lessons, I knew this would be perfect.

We had the pleasure of cooking with Chef Zach last month. He was fabulous! He created a delicious menu for us and went through it in easy detail. He gave us suggestions on how to tweak it if we wanted something healthier or not so healthy and was interactive throughout the entire lesson.  He was professional and very friendly. Zach had a good sense of humor and was extremely patient with myself, my husband, and two friends. We weren't so easy at times - making silly jokes or being distracted but he was great with making sure things were done in a timely manner while having a great time! The recipes looked like they were from a fancy restaurant but didn't take long to make! Always a plus. I'd recommend Chef Zach to everyone. We will definitely have him come again.
